The ingenious Mr Henry Bell
A local man, Henry Bell (1647-1711) was an accomplished architect,
artist and author. As an architect, his best-known local works
were the Custom House and North Runcton Church; as an artist
he produced a unique set of prints featuring Lynn town scenes;
and as an author he wrote an early description of King's Lynn.
He was heavily involved in the family mercantile business and
also owned land at Middleton and North Runcton.
David Higgins has written a book on the life, work and legacy
of Henry Bell and is giving an illustrated talk on the subject
in North Runcton Church on Tuesday 17th January 2006 at 7 pm.
Wine and coffee will be served in the Village Meeting Place after
the talk, when questions will be welcome.
Tickets are £5 each and are available from Hedley Chapman
(tel: 01553 840854) or Sophie Buckingham (tel 01553 766443).
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Church Restoration
Fund.
